Black Adam was previously leaked as a potential Multiversus character, but the list noted that Gizmo would be added to the game. Instead, we got a surprise character, Stripe from the Gremlins franchise. Black Adam is a villain that is nearly 80 years old but he can be a fierce and formidable opponent in the Shazam franchise. He’s a magically powered human who wields superhuman abilities bestowed to him by Ancient Egyptian Gods. He’s the type of bad guy who can go toe to toe with Superman. The character had recently been reinvented as a complicated sympathetic antihero. He’s also getting his very own movie starring Dwayne, the Rock, Johnson which is due to release later this year. The other addition to the roster of MultiVersus was quite an unexpected one and it’s Stripe, the ridiculous and fearsome antagonist from the absurd 1984 horror comedy, the Gremlins. The movie was intended for children for all purposes but it got a PG-13 rating for all the violence that it featured, at least in the United States. Stripe might get to wield a buzz-saw and a gun in the videogame, which are all things he pulled out in the 1984 movie. He might get to be a part of the Assassin class but it’s pure speculation for now. This addition might probably be tied in with the fact that the Gremlins 3 movie is coming out sometime in 2023, which nobody had expected or asked for. Warner Bros. might be trying to create hype for the upcoming Gremlins 3 with this move. The first season of Multiversus launches today on August 15, and you can read up on the specifics over at the MultiVersus page right here. For the long and short of it, Batman, Lebron James, and Arya Stark are free characters this time around. In addition, we’ve already previously mentioned below that Morty Smith from Rick and Morty will debut on August 23 as a late entry character for Season 1. MultiVersus has been going pretty viral all over the internet with its roster of characters from different platforms across streaming services and cable television. It’s a crossover we didn’t expect, but it’s the one we needed. The first official competitive season of MultiVersus has finally been confirmed by the developer, Player First Games. The season will start around August 15 and will feature a brand-new battle pass system that will allow players to earn in-game rewards and prizes.
What’s going on with Season 1 of MultiVersus?
Players had been anxiously waiting for Season 1 of MultiVersus for quite a while now. Season 1 of MultiVersus was supposed to commence around August 9, but it was delayed. To make matters worse, Rick and Morty were scheduled to be released pretty soon, but that bandwagon has been delayed as well. But fans are still having a pretty good time playing MultiVersus and sifting through all the character dialogue interaction possibilities, which give the game the charm that Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl lacked. There’s some bad news in store for players as Player First Games also announced that Morty will now not be included in the game the same day that Season 1 starts. Instead, Morty will be unlocked for MultiVersus in the following week, on August 23. We were expecting to see a lot of Morty mains in the game on the first day of the season, but it seems that the Morty Meta will have to wait for a while. Be patient, guys! The Studio didn’t end it there. They also announced that Season 1 would get tons of rewards and content as it progresses with time. Instead of getting the bulk of the content on the first day, players will see an updated list of items to unlock as they progress through the first season of MultiVersus. While the release date for Morty has been officially announced, there seems to be no sign of Rick’s official release date. We can only speculate that Rick from Rick and Morty will be released sometime later through Season 1 of MultiVersus. But till then, you can enjoy the Morty Meta to your heart’s content. Further news revealed that a classic Arcade mode would be added to the game pretty soon. And in anticipation of Season 1 of MultiVersus, the developers will also be adding a new Ranked Mode at some point during Season 1. The director of MultiVersus, Tony Huynh, had recently confirmed that the Season 1 MultiVersus Battle Pass will include around 50 tiers and will cost around 10 dollars or 8 pounds in respective regions. Players will also get to enjoy new banners, icons, and new variations of their favorite characters. The current Preseason Battle Pass which was expected to only run for two weeks until Season 1, was also delayed. It features around 15 tiers of skins for characters along with profile icons, bonus XP, coins, and other cosmetic items for players to enjoy. For players who want to opt-out of the Battle Pass, they can still get a free option that allows users to earn rewards that are available to all of the player base. The paid premium version or the Battle Pass will feature various exclusive cosmetic items that won’t be available to the free players. Luckily, Warner Bros Games has suggested that there will be future opportunities to unlock these cosmetic items and skins via other means in the future of MultiVersus.
